Abstract

An analytical calculation model is constructed to determine the losses of a 5-kW squirrel cage induction machine at multiple operation points at different speeds. The losses are analyzed and compared with measured results to emulate the converter supply according to IEC standard loss segregation. The operation area includes load torque values below 125% of the rated torque and speeds below the rated operation point. The model utilizes motor design data, including geometry details and material parameters, to predict power losses in the induction motor and system. This kind of tool is useful to rapidly assess all power losses in an induction motor based on different imposed factors including voltage, load, stator frequency and ambient temperature.
