Abstract
The use of dental implants is now a widely accepted and common dental treatment. In the past, dental implant treatment was a time-consuming procedure, but advancements in the surface and morphology of the implants gradually shortened the treatment process. The protocol of immediate loading after immediate placement not only can be used to maintain better aesthetics in the anterior teeth, but also providing quicker occlusal support to the posterior teeth. Thus, the preservation of the marginal bone is of utmost importance. The factors that affect marginal bone resorption include implant position, implant length, implant diameter, implant design, the bony defect around the implant, the presence of autoimmune diseases, smoking habit, and the use of bisphosphonates. The effect of immediate loading has also been extensively discussed. This review article focuses on the effect of immediate loading after the immediate placement of the implant with grafting on marginal bone loss.
