Abstract
Digital filters are widely used in different digital signal processing fields. Filters of finite impulse response (FIR) are characterized with stability and compliance to be adaptive, compared to filters of infinite impulse response (IIR). In general, finite impulse response filters include diverse filter coefficients, compared to moving average filters, which normally use identical coefficients. Moving average filters have very slow roll-off and poor stopband attenuation that contains very high ripples. In this paper, principles and merits of using FIR filters of successive order coefficients are highlighted. Efficient design procedure of those filters is discussed in detail, followed by simulation results that are observed and discussed.
