In this paper, the author made a field mapping and energy consumption survey on a typical residential building in Southern Hunan area, and conducted an indoor test on heat and humidity index in summer and winter. The results are shown as follows: The typical residential buildings in Southern Hunan area are of good thermal insulating properties; and the environmental friendly local materials are easily obtained for construction. Abstract
