Abstract
The lnstitute «Bernardino de Sahagun», of the High Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), was the main official center for research in anthropology and ethnology during the Franco periord. This paper analyzes the main lines of enquiry laid clown by its director J. Perez de Barradas, and the political and ideological constrains that led CSIC's cultural anthropology to a deadlock.
