Maximum principle and open systems including two-phase flows

Abstract

Recently an extension of the principle of maximum, for the variation of the entropy due to irreversibility, has been obtained for the open systems. This result is analysed and a comparision between this one and other thermodynamical variational principles of stability is developed. An application to two-phase flows is done to obtain the pressure drop.
