Understand the importance of defining the boundaries of a health system in a given country; Be able to explain the functions of a health system and how these relate to one another; Be able to describe the goals of a health system and how to evaluate progress towards them; Be aware of the major contemporary initiatives to assess health system performance internationally; Recognize the limitations, including the scope for abuse, of health system comparisons.
