Abstract

Map Matching is the problem of comparing measured coordinates with the information of a map, e. g. the comparison of a point-shaped trajectory with a line-shaped network. A purely spatial analysis with a GIS does not deliver satisfactory results in many cases. The plugin Offline-MapMatching is the first extension for QGIS to realise a map matching with stochastic methods. This paper describes the process flow, the mathematical principles and the parameters of the plugin.
