Margo Garrett: A Model of Mentorship

Abstract:This column, renamed "Collaborations" and the first under the new editorship of the Journal of Singing, pays tribute to the groundbreaking contributions of the inimitable and indomitable collaborative pianist Margo Garrett. As an inspiration and role model for so many musicians, Margo Garrett has had a particularly significant influence on the fields of collaborative and vocal arts. The authors consider the pianist's role as mentor, and celebrate the qualities that have made Margo Garrett such an exceptional model of mentoring with interviews of colleagues, performing partners, friends and former collaborative piano students.
