The Maritime Sector in the Electric Energy Markets

Abstract

This paper discusses the new challenges from the entrepreneurial point of view raised due to the electrification of ships and ports within the framework of a global effort to reduce emissions, among others, in the maritime sector. Within this context, alternatives ways that the maritime business can work in a framework of open electric energy markets are discussed, while a proposed innovative idea planned to be implemented in Greece is also presented.
