Abstract

The weight-loss technique and the quantum mechanics calculations, density functional theory DFT and parameterization 3 method PM3 have been used to study the corrosion inhibition properties of metronidazole drug on the mild steel. The quantum scales factors of inhibitor required to determine the adsorption inhibition were calculated. And the efficiency of corrosion inhibition in 1 M of HCl and different concentrations of inhibitor was also determined. The calculations revealed that the medicine has a corrosion inhibition efficiency IE. And the measurements showed this efficiency as well. Significantly, the efficiency increased as the concentration of inhibitor increased.
