Resumo: para Rousseau, no estado de natureza, o homem e regulado por dois principios, o amor de si e a pitie , ou seja, antes mesmo do concurso da razao e da sociedade os fundamentos da moral estao presentes. Dotado de uma comiseracao natural, o homem nesse estado nao historico nao e bom porque distingue o bem do mal, mas porque a maxima que o inspira decorre da bondade natural e o leva a fazer o seu bem como o menor mal possivel.
