Abstract
Applying modern methods of video image transmission and analysis for solving monitoring tasks in maritime transport, taking into account the heterogeneous nature of the sea surface as the background of the analyzed image, is an important, relevant, and complex task. This article discusses various methods for detecting the boundaries of maritime objects in images, including the methods of Prewitt, Roberts, Sobel, and Canny. Evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of each method, the authors assessed the effectiveness of these algorithms in the task of recognizing maritime objects. Research was conducted based on the analysis of the results of computational experiments using different methods. The authors found that the Canny method is the most accurate and effective in detecting object boundaries in images. Overall, this work can be useful for researchers working in the field of image processing and computer vision, as well as for developers of systems for monitoring the movement of ships and other similar applications.
