Abstract
It is argued that the commercialization of cultural heritage in the Historic Center of Zacatecas (CHZ) pushed one hand, an increase in land prices in the built heritage and on the other, attracting tourists who changed their economy towards entertainment and tourism. The theoretical argument recovers the discussion on tourist gentrification, but it is separated from touristification as a phenomenon associated with housing. The use of the trajectories methodology located behavior, rhythm and consequences of the process over time (1990-2020) and allowed to conclude that the CHZ experienced a successful gentrification in the appropriation of public space for entertainment and tourism that took advantage of the valuation cultural; but it failed in the displacement of the low-income population to the periphery, due to its precariousness, high land prices and the little interest of the high-income population to live in it.
