Abstract
The socket shield technique has been demonstrated to have great potential in preserving hard and soft tissue dimensions after tooth extraction to achieve optimal esthetic results. The preparation of the socket shield, however, is technique-sensitive due to limited access to the extraction sockets and variations in root anatomies. The dynamic navigation system allows clinicians to visualize the movement of the cutting instrument and its position relative to anatomical structures in real-time. This greatly enhances clinicians' abilities to perform surgeries accurately. This report describes a novel method of using such system to prepare the socket shield in a precise and efficient manner.
