Israel, de José Revueltas: el montaje como técnica en la dramaturgia

Abstract

El artículo aborda la manera en que el montaje, como procedimiento técnico de creación, tiene lugar en el texto dramático Israel, del autor mexicano José Revueltas. La primera sección del trabajo ofrece elementos críticos para una revisión de los antecedentes temáticos en la obra narrativa y periodística del autor hasta 1947. En la segunda, se presenta la singularidad de la técnica del montaje de tipo cinematográfico presente en Israel, vinculando espacio, personajes, objetos escénicos e iluminación. En la tercera sección se analizan los tres actos del drama para demostrar la operación del montaje en el argumento de la historia, lo que permite apreciar su efectividad. Israel, by José Revueltas: Montage as a Dramaturgical Technique Abstract The article aims to demonstrate the way in which montage as a technical procedure of writing is deployed in the play Israel, by Mexican author José Revueltas. The article’s first section offers a critical overview of the thematic background in the author’s narrative and journalistic work until 1947. The second presents the technique of cinematographic montage that can be found in Israel as a writing procedure that links space, characters, stage objects and lighting. The third section discusses each of the drama’s three acts, to identify the use of montage in the story’s plot, a technique that makes the dramatic text particularly effective.
