Abstract
The paper discusses the transformation of the dominating technical concept of digital geomedia towards an innovative digital pedagogical concept for geomedia education in geography. The argument is that the rise of digital geomedia as a cultural technique for multimedia-based communication of geographical knowledge causes altered educational requirements. Thus, there is a need for new digital concepts of teaching and learning in schools and in the field of geography teacher education as well. Besides technical skills and data literacy, competences of argumentation, reflection, and participation become crucial for empowering people for a critical use of media environments related to geospatial computing in society.
