Abstract
Abstract A simple and efficient method to obtain α-xanthylmethyl ketones from α-diazo ketones is described. The reaction proceeds through a protonation/nucleophilic substitution sequence in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid and potassium ethyl xanthogenate as the nucleophile.
