KEKERASAN VERBAL BERUPA LABELING OLEH MAHASISWA DI UNIVERSITAS JEMBER: SUATU KAJIAN PSIKOLINGUISTIK

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify (1) types of verbal violence by students at the University of Jember in the form of labeling and (2) describe the emotions of perpetrators and victims of verbal violence. This type of research is a qualitative research with a descriptive design. This study uses several methods, namely the provision of data in the form of observations, interviews, and documentation. The data used in this research is in the form of verbal expressions of violence committed by Jember University students in oral form. The analytical method used is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The findings in this study are the types of verbal violence and the types of emotions. There are 4 types of verbal violence in the form of labeling that often occurs among students, namely (1) negative labeling by simulating animals, (2) negative labeling in the form of dirty names towards someone, (3) negative labeling in the form of equating with spirits, (4 ) negative labeling in the form of physical insults.
