O presente estudo objetivou avaliar o risco ambiental ecotoxicologico a partir da concentracao letal 50 durante 96 h (CL - 50 96h) para Poecilia reticulata, em ausencia e presenca de sedimento, valor que foi estimado em 0,08 ± 0,01 mg/L para o primeiro e 0,09 ± 0,01 mg/L para o segundo. A partir destes valores, o fipronil foi classificado como extremadamente toxico para P. reticulata em ambas circunstâncias e de alto risco ambiental em um espelho de agua de 1 ha a 0,30 m de profundidade e moderadamente toxico em 1 ha a 2,0 m. A dissipacao do fipronil no meio aquatico nao foi afetada pela temperatura, presenca ou ausencia de sedimento e/ou luz. No calculo da dissipacao parcial (50%) e total (100%) apos da diluicao de 0,75 mg/L foi determinado em 242 dias para o primeiro e de 263 para o segundo, onde nao ocorrera mortalidade na concentracao de 0,025 mg/L EnglishPesticides have been used in agriculture to avoid productivity losses caused by various organisms. Fipronil is a phenylpyrazole insecticide widely used in agricultural management to control pests of sugar cane in Brazil, and it can be leached into aquatic ecosystems. The present study aimed to evaluate the environmental risk of toxic concentrations and dissipation of fipronil to Poecilia reticulata, based on the 96-h median lethal concentration (LC ) value 50 estimated at 0.08 ± 0.01 mg/L without sediment and 0.09 ± 0.01 mg/L with sediment of fipronil in the aquatic environment. These values of fipronil were classified as extremely toxic to P. reticulata in both cases, which showed high environmental risk of poisoning to a shallow film of water of 1 ha and 0.30 m deep, with and without sediment. On the other hand, in bodies of water 1 ha and 2.0 m deep, it was of moderate toxicity. Dissipation of fipronil in the water was not affected by temperature, sediment or photoperiod.
