Abstract

With their vast range of uses, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, or drones) are becoming more popular. However, the security and privacy of these UAV-based applications remains a worry. Man-in-the middle, replay and physical assaults are all risks that may be faced by unmanned aerial vehicles. To counteract these threats and weaknesses, we present a light-weight mutual authentication system that provides network and communication security. PUFs, a digital fingerprint device, are used to guard against physical and masquerade assaults in the proposed protocol.
