Abstract

Trauma is the leading cause of death in people aged < 40 years and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS) is the leading cause of death in intensive care units. Consequently, understanding the mechanisms by which trauma/hemorrhagic shock (T/HS) leads to acute (non-infectious) MODS is of major health importance in the USA.
