Old concerns, renewed focus and novel problems: feminist communication theory and the Global South

Abstract

ABSTRACT Feminist theorizations have made important contributions to communication, albeit somewhat less visible and on the sidelines. Even less visible is research conducted with a feminist lens from the Global South. This article provides an overview of current ways of approaching, understanding, and applying feminist theoretical perspectives at the intersection of gender and communication from non-Western contexts. It also identifies feminist contributions to communication scholarship and makes suggestions for future directions.
