Abstract
Theatricality, Representation and Fiction in Law
Abstract
If we analyze law from the perspective of theatricality, we can see how it hides its fictional quality, as law is a mise en scène of the real, which presumes theatre to be a simulation incapable of modifying or interceding in reality’s unfolding. This became evident in a judicial case that implicated Chilean playwright Manuela Infante’s play, Prat. In the play, law uses theatrical instruments to determine who can change and who or cannot. Such a “legal” operation uses the same mechanisms as theatre, disclosing its inherently fictional character. By theatrical means, law imposes (or produces) a model of reality, relegating theatre to a place of the impossible other.

Theatricality Representation and低俗小说in Law Abstract If we analyze Law from the perspective of Theatricality, we can see how it hides its虚构quality, as Law is a作为scène of the real, which你吹嘘剧院to be a模拟incapable of modifying or interceding in reality ' s unfolding。 这种“合法”操作使用the same as剧院,disclosing its inherently机制虚构的查阅。
