A simple fibre-optic autocorrelation tachometer

Abstract

The principle of a simple and inexpensive optical-fibre-based correlation technique is demonstrated for the monitoring of the slow rotation of a shaft of an electric motor. The use and possible extension of the techniques employed are discussed.
