Preventing violence

Abstract

• Study of 15 117 persons born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1953 and followed up to age 30 years. • Inadequate parenting increased risk of violent offending (men, 2.02 times; women, 2.09). • Obstetric complications without family problems didn’t increase risk of offending. • Combination of pregnancy complications and inadequate parenting in 4% did not increase the risk, except for an increase in the risk of violence offending in men (2.80 times)
