Abstract
Clearly, climate change is the most debilitating global environmental problem of all times. ‘From shifting weather patterns that threaten food production, to rising sea levels that increase the risk of catastrophic flooding, the impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale…’ For Nigeria, the negative impacts of climate change are felt in the major sectors of the economy. Persistent flooding, droughts, and severe prolonged dry weather conditions have stifled agricultural friendly seasons into non-existence. The implication of the latter is low agricultural productivity and, the attendant risk of hunger in Nigeria. What is more, severe weather conditions occasioned by climate change is exacerbating increased infectious diseases, injury and psychological disorder. The negative impact of climate change also undermines the supply and availability of electricity in Nigeria.
