Abstract

Sepsis is a condition where the body’s reaction to an infection harms its own tissues and organs, putting the patient at risk of shock, organ failure and even death. It is critical to identify sepsis early and provide immediate treatment to avoid these outcomes. Sepsis is a serious life-threatening illness that is very difficult to predict, diagnose and treat. It can be caused by any type of infection: bacterial, viral, fungal or even parasitic. Sepsis prevention is only possible by preventing infections with good and consistent hygiene and avoiding people with infections.1
