Abstract

The impregnation of ammine aqua cobalt(III) complexes on η-Al2O3 was investigated by NIR FT-Raman spectroscopy and in a few cases by UV—vis spectroscopy and X-ray powder diffraction. The cobalt(III) impregnated alumina samples were prepared from different precursors using different impregnation methods. The observed Raman bands for the impregnated alumina around 522–537 cm−1 were tentatively assigned to the vibrational modes for the CoOAl or CoO(H)Al bonds (Al = aluminium atom on Al2O3 surface).
