VIRTUALLY SINCE Banting and Best first isolated insulin, scientists have been searching for the Holy Grail of a delivery system that does not rely on injections. Now, almost 80 years on, there is hope on the horizon for the estimated 575,000 people in the UK who need to inject themselves every single day.
