A computational system for dynamic capacity analysis of distribution circuits - Finite volume method (FVM)

Abstract

Currently the capacity of the circuit is calculated taking into account assumptions that turn out to underutilize the actual capacity of distribution networks with underground cables out, that due to the unavailability of information “on line” of each individual circuit and temperature at the time, length, arrangement in conduits, etc.. The loading of a cable or conductor is commonly called ampacity. Due to economic constraints and limitations because of lack of space, many dealers in the world are striving to increase the carrying capacity of cables in service and the new designed.
