Abstract
The forest pathogen, Phellinidium sulphurascens, is reported from Northeast China. It mainly attacks Abies, but occasionally lives on Larix, Pinus, and Picea. Its ecology is discussed based on field observations, and an illustrated description of the fungus is given from Chinese collections. It is closely related to P. weirii, but differs by having wider hyphoid setae, an annual habit, and by living on species of Pinaceae.
