The wear mechanism such as abrasive, delamination, thermal softening and oxidation were observed. The results showed that the PVD coating increased the wear resistance of the AZ91D Mg alloy. Abstract
The as received AZ91D Mg alloy was coated by ZrO2 and ZrN ceramic using Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) process.
