Abstract

A protocol for micropropagation of Lanzhou lily (Lilium davidii), an edible and ornamental plant in China was developed. The best results for bulblet formation, mean number of bulblets per explant, fresh weight and other bulblet regeneration parameters were obtained on the basal portion of the excised bulbscales on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg·L−1 NAA + 0.5 mg·L−1 BAP and 6–9% sucrose. 100% shoots were rooted on half-strength MS media containing 0.1 mg·L−1 NAA.
