Abstract

This work presents the development of a real-time simulation system based on field-programmable gate array (FPGA). Detailed information regarding the implementation of the proposed real-time simulator (RTS) is presented. A current bidirectional boost converter is considered in order to illustrate the proposed methodology for power converter modeling and implementation of RTS equation solver. The comparison between obtained results and offline commercial simulation is conducted to validate the proposed RTS. The proposed RTS can be used as a low-cost alternative to commercial platforms to perform real-time simulations of power electronic converters.
