The key challenging issue with the implementation of wireless sensor networks is the limiting energy constraint of sensor nodes. This paper proposes a novel approach for an effective energy efficient data forwarding technique based on the state information monitored by the sensor nodes. The sensed data is checked against a fuzzy rule database and a forward decision is made only if any rule in the database is triggered. Abstract
