Global Sustainable electricity System based on HVDC interconnections

Abstract

During the last years, the CIGRE C1.35 has performed a pioneer quantitative pre-feasibility study for the concept of a global electricity network. The study has explored the economic costs and benefits of interconnecting all continents as one key enabler of a Global Sustainable electricity system.The present paper summarizes the results of this study in which HVDC interconnections play a key role.
