Abstract

Continuous estimation of system states is mandatory for proper operation, control and protection of power system. This paper presents an observation of state estimation improvements for IEEE 14 bus system incorporating the Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU) measurements with traditional SCADA measurements. Initially, the optimal number of PMU requirement for complete observability of this test case is identified using the Integer Linear Programming (ILP) optimization technique.
