Les implants maxillo-faciaux à plateaux d’assise

Abstract

The set sat back maxillo-facial implantology is a rising discipline with ignored and wide fields of applications. Indeed, if the technology of these implants exists for more than 20 years, the development of associated therapeutic is still very confidential. This first article points out the main historical steps, the theoretical bases and the technological principles, before describing in details the associated surgical techniques and their therapeutic implications. This study emphasised the global treatment of single and complex anatomical lesions of the low and middle face. Thus, if the strictly dental uses of these implants are very interesting, it is really during huge and delicate rehabilitations that the underlying orthopaedic concept shows its great efficiency.
