Using the philosophy of science to better understand research methods1

Abstract

Abstract This article suggests that contemporary philosophy of science can significantly increase our understanding of behavioral research methods. In particular, it illustrates this contention by showing how selected methodological ideas in the philosophy of science can deepen our understanding of the widely used method of exploratory factor analysis.
