Abstract

The present catalogue, which was extracted from my still unpublished Portuguese and Brazilian Balladry , classifies the 89 ballads found in the Brazilian oral tradition. Although my main purpose is to document che existence of each ballad in Brazil, I have also included a short bibliography that lists Portuguese, Galician, Castilian, Catalan, Sephardic, and Spanish- American parallels.
