Abstract
Elderly care is an urgent need in a society where life expectancy is higher, given the vulnerability experienced by the elderly. Therefore, we need models of elderly care that are able to reduce the vulnerability of the elderly while empowering the potential and ability of the elderly so that they can function socially in their lives. This qualitative approach research seeks toexamine the comparison of elderly care models conducted by institutions with elderly care at home in Bengkulu City, Bengkulu Province, Indonesia. Data collection is done through in-depth interviews, observations and documentation studies, the results of which are then analyzed with qualitative analysis. The results showed that the elderly care model, both inside the institution and at home, had their strengths and weaknessesCare within institutions is relatively more systematic and comprehensive through various physical, mental, social and spiritual activities, compared to elderly care at home. However, elderly care at home turns out to be more comfortable for the elderly because of its closeness to the family, than when treated in an institution. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended that collaboration between elderly care activities in the institution within the institution be manintained at home, so that the goal of elderly care can be optimally achieved. The recommended forms of services is the formation of the Elderly Family Association and the implementation of Day Care services in Institutions that can be accessed not only by the elderly in the institution, but also the elderly at home.
