Calculation of Electric Field Under High Voltage Direct Current Transmission Lines by the Upstream Finite Element Method

Abstract

Corona discharge is a common phenomenon in high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission lines. It generates ion flow and space charge in the air. Electric field under HVDC transmission lines is enlarged. Based on the Kaptzov assumption, electric field is calculated by the upstream finite element method. Factors influencing electric field are analyzed.
