Abstract
Asthma affects one in seven children and one in 25 adults in the United Kingdom with a cost of £466.2 million to the NHS. Considering the cost and the adverse effects of long term use of β-agonists and inhaled corticosteroids, an alternative approach reducing the need for medication would be valuable. The present paper presents a case of chronic asthma in which both symptomatic and objective improvements occurred during chiropractic management. The literature concerning chiropractic treatment of asthma was inconclusive and variable resulting in the conclusion that further studies of the efficacy of chiropractic treatment in the management of asthma, particularly regarding patient rated severity and effects on neuropeptide levels are indicated.
