One of the crucial devices used in most hospitals is health-monitoring device. However, in critical situation such as in ambulatory services, which involve a lot of physical movement, using wired devices such as electrocardiogram (ECG) machine or photoplethysmography (PPG) signal acquisition device may seem to be quite burdensome. PPG is a method of measuring blood volume changes in body veins. It is a non-invasive, simple and low cost device which is widely used for medical application especially for ambulatory purposes. Therefore, this paper presents the design and development of wireless PPG based health monitoring device via Bluetooth sensor. The main objectives of this research are focusing on both establishing the hardware and software for a complete system. The further analysis will be done based on full hardware and software architecture for developing and designing a complete device for wireless PPG based health monitoring application.
