Happenstance: How Folger Conservators Discovered a New Poster Housing Solution

Abstract

ABSTRACT In 2017, the Folger Shakespeare Library received a large collection of posters for which a housing solution was needed. It was vital that the new housing would allow ready access and easy handling for library staff and researchers, while also protecting the poster edges and glossy surfaces from any damage. In addition, the new housing would ideally be constructed efficiently with regards to both time and cost restraints. This article describes how the Folger conservators discovered an innovative solution through trial and error and creative thinking.
