Abstract
In this paper, propane was used as the research object, and the self-built experimental platform was used to study the influence of two different cross-wind directions on the flame characteristics such as the blow-out limit on the rectangular nozzle diffusion flame, flame shape and flame mean length. The experimental results show that when the fuel jet velocity is low, the cross-wind directions has little effect on the flame blow-out limit. As the fuel jet velocity increases, the cross-wind directions has a greater influence on the flame blow-out limit. And when the cross-wind acts vertically on the cross section of the nozzle, the flame tends to be down-wash. When the cross-wind horizontally acts on the cross section of the nozzle, the flame is easy to exhibit the lift-off phenomenon. It is found that the flame length monotonously increases with the increase of the momentum flux ratio of fuel jet to cross-wind when the cross-wind horizontally acts on the nozzle section, but the flame length shows two growth curves with increases of the momentum flux ratio when the cross-wind acts vertically on the nozzle section.
