Chalcone compounds are classified into flavonoids which can be used as medicine. The synthesis process affects the physical and chemical properties of compounds and their pharmacological activities. Synthesize by using microwaves can provide better cytotoxic activity. The purpose of this study is to synthesize chalcone compounds using the microwave method. The synthesis process goes through several steps, including the isolation of safrole from cullilawan oil, safrole isomerization, isosafrole oxidation, and piperonal aldol condensation. The results showed that the purity of the isolated safrole was 89.18%. The yield of isosafrol product from isomerization was 77.56% and produce two isomer products (cis and trans-isosafrol). The result of isosafrole oxidation with potassium permanganate oxidizing agent obtained 65.63% rendamen.
