Abstract

A preliminary survey of the cement-forming reactions between silicate minerals and polyacid solutions is presented. Reaction mixtures were assessed qualitatively for setting and hydrolytic stability and the compressive strength of some of the hardened cements was measured. The results are discussed in terms of the atomic structures of the minerals and polyacids employed.
