Aju, Sushitha Susan Joseph","doi":"10.4018/IJeC.290296","DOIUrl":null,"url":null,"abstract":"ThisworkproposestheCrustalgorithmfor3Dreconstructionofbraintumor,aneffectivemechanisminthevisualizationoftumorsforpresurgicalplanning,radiationdosecalculation.DespitethepromisingperformanceofCrustalgorithminreconstructionofStanfordmodels,ithasnotyetbeenconsideredin3Dreconstructionofbraintumor.Validationoftheresultsisdoneusingthecomparisonofthe3Dmodelsfromtwocutting-edgetechniques,namelytheMarchingCubeandtheAlphashapealgorithm.TheobtainedresultshowsthatCrustalgorithmprovidesthebraintumormodelwithanaveragequalityoftrianglemeshesrangingfrom0.85to0.95.Concerningthevisualrealism,thequalityofCrustalgorithmmodelsishigheroncomparisontotheothermodels.Precisionoftumorvolumemeasurementbyconvexhullmethodisanalysedbyrepeatabilityandreproducibility.Thestandarddeviationsofrepeatabilitywerebetween2.03%and3.97%.TheexperimentalresultsshowthatLinearCrustalgorithmproduceshighqualitymesheswithaveragequalityofequilateraltrianglescloseto1.","PeriodicalId":13957,"journal":{"name":"Int.
